Seattle Pacific University (SPU) is a private Christian university located in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1891 with the Oregon and Washington Conferences of the Free Methodist Church, then the Seattle Seminary. It became Seattle Seminary and College in 1913, changed its name to Seattle Pacific College two years later, and received its current name in 1977.

SPU offers a four-year alternating series of general education courses for honors students called University Scholars that revolve around a great book reading list and the writing of a lengthy senior thesis honors project – Seattle Pacific University. In addition to literature courses, the curriculum includes two Faith and Science courses and one Christianity and Scholarship course. The workload is usually very strict.

A student in the program participates in his or her University Scholars course with the same group of 40 students throughout the four years. Students can be admitted regardless of major. Students apply in the spring of their senior year; some students are invited to the program after their freshman year at SPU. There are no College Scholars programs scheduled for the fall of junior year to give students the opportunity to study abroad
