Ryerson (chair of the board and donor to the Ryerson Physics Laboratory), Adolphus Clay Bartlett and Leon Mandel, who funded The superintendent of building the gymnasium and auditorium, and George C. Walker of the Walker Museum, a relative of Cobb, encouraged his inaugural donation of the facility.
