Northeastern University (NU or NEU) is a private research university with its main campus in Boston. The specialty of Northeastern University is a cooperative education program, commonly referred to as a “co-op”, which combines classroom learning with professional experience and includes more than 3,100 partners from seven continents. Although not required in all disciplines, undergraduate participation is almost universal. The university’s sports team, the Northeast Huskies, is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) participating in the NCAA Level 1 competition and participating in 18 varsity sports. The men’s and women’s hockey teams compete in the Hockey East, while the men’s and women’s rowing teams compete in the Eastern Rowing Academy Association (EARC) and the Eastern Women’s Rowing Academy Association (EAWRC) respectively. Men’s track and field won consecutive CAA championships in 2015 and 2016. In 2013, the men’s basketball team won the CAA regular season championship, men’s football won the CAA championship for the first time, and the women’s championship. The Northeast Men’s Hockey Team defeated Boston University, Boston College and Harvard to win the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Bean Can Awards
